Do not go here, it is nothing but a high pressure money trap.
Generally a pretty good gym. I think it could be a little cleaner and have some of the older equipment replaced. During busy times it can be a wait to get a bench but most of the time I feel there's a good "buzz" from people working out without being overly crowded. Many of the cardio machines have Tv's, which is nice though not all work.
I was very excited about joining this place and they told me that they would show me how all the equipment works and all that upon my "fitness evaluation". Well at my "fitness evaluation" I told them that a good friend of mine had dropped dead the day before because of weight and health issues and I need to do cardio because my Dr told me too.
Work out where one in a blue moon but still best place every
The first thing out of their mouths after telling them this and paying for a membership was well how much money do you have to spend on a personal trainer? I said well I was told that you guys would show me how to use the machines and equipment and walk me through everything and they told me that the machines are no good that I need weight lifting with a personal trainer. I told them my Dr said I need cardio and my neck and shoulder is too messed up to be doing weights and they proceed to tell me that they know what they are doing and I need weight training and for $260 a month I will get personal training! Well what the hell do you have all those machines for if they are no good and where did you get your medical degree? So they send in a "manager", keep in mind I am in an office much like a car lot with these aggressive sales people and they have not once shown me a damn thing at this point, I tell them I am not interested in this at this time and certainly do not want to be obligated for a year show me how to work this stuff then we can talk. SO he takes me and gives me an introductory workout on free weights and it was not bad, but again the machines where not recommended and afterwords I told him that I had not budgeted or even planned for a personal trainer and I have to get surgery on my wrists in a few months and there is no way that this is possible and I still want to go work out with cardio. So he goes and gets another "manager" who goes through another high pressure sales pitch and then puts me on the phone with yet another "manager" and none of them listened to me a single time. Had they shown me what I wanted from the get go I might have been less apprehensive but hell no they didn't do that.
Has a steam room which is rare for an LA fitness and never gets crazy busy. The pool needs to have filters changed more often and is very warm for swimming workouts though.
I went and worked out more and did some laps and got on several machines that did not work then I went for a swim and there was sand or something all over the floor there like they had not swept in months and water bottles and trash everywhere and the whole place in general was filled with machines that did not work and old and just overall a horrible experience and even though I paid for two months the way I was treated I will never ever go back there again. What a shame because with good management it would be a cool place. The people at fitness 19 in Dublin where way nicer and actually listened to me like I was a person and not a dollar bill!!
Great gym with competitive pricing. Plenty of equipment with little downtime waiting for a machine
